Our Vacation Bible School has now come and gone and boy, did we have fun! It was an action-packed 3 days, that’s for sure! Here are some of the photos (click to enlarge) taken during VBS:
If you were at Clark Fork City Church last week, (Fathers’ Day) you were afforded the blessed opportunity of witnessing the baby dedications of two families. Baby dedications are, by nature, encouraging to watch and often leave us thinking of the future, praying for hopes and dreams to come to fruition.
This last week during these dedications, Bruce Donnelly shared a word that bears sharing here in this public forum. Bruce quoted these verses in his exhortation:
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.” – Psalm 1:1-2
Bruce shared the above verses and went on to say that the Bible is the best parenting manual there is. We are to delight in the Word no matter what the world tells us to do; we are to make a stand for the Lord in our parenting. Verse 3 of Psalm 1 tells us the result of doing so:
” He shall be planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”
Raising our families according to Biblical principals brings good results and is a wonderful witness. Our lives and the lives of our families will speak loud and clear as being for the Lord when we raise our families in the fear of the Lord.
Operation Summer Fun is coming soon to Clark Fork City Church! Mark your calendars for three days of thrills and fun on July 13, 14, and 15!
Can’t wait to see you there!
Our church has been blessed with many babies! They are all so precious!
In an effort to balance out class size on Sunday mornings, we’ve made a change: Our Infants class will be for babies, ages 6 weeks to 18 months in age (Room 136). Our Babies class will now be for those that are 19 to 30 months in age (Room 135).
Thanks for your understanding and patience and we make this transition!
I really appreciated Gary Thomas’ perspective on being faithful with the day in and day out aspects of parenting. I hope this will encourage you as it did me! – Deidrie
“It was a strange and quizzical sensation, and it certainly affected the way I look at children, particularly with regard to how God remains so passionately concerned about them. Any time we can bring them joy, we bring a smile to God’s face. And any time we violate their innocence, we earn a fierce enemy: “If anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea” (Matthew 18:6).
Mothers and fathers, when you give your tiny infant a bath, you are washing God’s baby. Pause a moment in your busy day and look up to heaven. When you minister to that youngster, can you imagine God smiling down at you? When you fix that hungry six-year-old a peanut butter sandwich, you are feeding one of God’s children. Listen carefully – you may hear God laughing in pleasure. When you hug an adolescent whom others have teased mercilessly at school, you are comforting God’s teenager. Are those God’s tears dampening your shoulder?
In the process of caring and loving, you bring God great pleasure. At that very moment you become his provision, his comfort, his passion. Learn to swim in that joy, and you will never look at parenting the same way again.
You could have rejected this child. You could have spurned the demands on your time, your resources, and your emotional well-being. But instead you accepted this child, through great pain you gave birth to this child, and with even greater pain you make daily sacrifices to love this child. Your heavenly Father doesn’t miss a second of this sacrifice. He sees it all. He cries with you and he laughs with you and he takes great joy in the good work you are doing.”
