City Food Kids Christmas Party…a huge success!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Saturday, December 17, 2011 was the day. The stage of the CFCC auditorium was filled with presents, the hot chocolate was hot, and the excited faces of little children were lining up at the door. Volunteers adorned their jolly hats and then the moment we all had been waiting for arrived. Families filed in, all eyes on the presents on the stage.

Mike Hagen from The Strength Team shared his strength – his love of sharing Jesus with others – as only he (and The Strength Team) can. Children were lifted in the air, phone books were torn in half, and re-bar was twisted into the shape of a fish. Everyone was captivated!

Soon it was time for drawings – bikes and gift baskets were given away. And then it was time for presents!! One by one in a manner of joyful and organized chaos, each child received his or her gift(s). Watching their faces light up was priceless! And then, to top off the afternoon, many hands were raised in the air symbolizing that they had asked Jesus into their hearts. The best gift of all.

A huge thank you to all who helped with the party and to all who contributed gifts. We owe all the success and glory to Jesus, and also to all of you! We can’t wait for next year!

City Food Kids Christmas Party – December 17, 2011

We at Clark Fork City Church are putting on a Christmas party for the kids who come through our City Food Bank! Between 400 and 500 kids come through every month with their families to get food.

City Food Kids Christmas Party
In late November and early December, each child fills out a “wish list”. We add the wish lists to our church Christmas tree so that people in our church have an opportunity to sponsor a child. On Dec. 17th at 1:00, our party will begin! We put a gift in each child’s hand who would otherwise not be able to have a Christmas! And this year each child that comes to receive their gift will also be put into 2 drawings for a chance to win a bike! That’s right, we’re also giving away 2 bikes!

How Can You Help?
– If you would like to donate $ or sponsor a child please contact Clark Fork City Church at 721-7804. (All funds go directly to purchasing gifts. No money is spent on administrative cost. We still have 50 children left to sponsor.)
– We need cookies for the party! There can never be too many cookies!
– Come to the party on 12/17 to help serve cookies and hot chocolate, or just to help in general!
– Pray for this event: that each family will be blessed, that the excitement of Jesus’ birth would be tangible, and that life and relationship with Jesus is super contagious!

The delight on the children’s faces when they hear their name called…is priceless! And it’s worth all the effort we have made!

On Parenting…

If you were at Clark Fork City Church last week, (Fathers’ Day) you were afforded the blessed opportunity of witnessing the baby dedications of two families.  Baby dedications are, by nature, encouraging to watch and often leave us thinking of the future, praying for hopes and dreams to come to fruition.

This last week during these dedications, Bruce Donnelly shared a word that bears sharing here in this public forum.  Bruce quoted these verses in his exhortation:

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.”       - Psalm 1:1-2

Bruce shared the above verses and went on to say that the Bible is the best parenting manual there is.  We are to delight in the Word no matter what the world tells us to do; we are to make a stand for the Lord in our parenting. Verse 3 of Psalm 1 tells us the result of doing so:

” He shall be planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”

Raising our families according to Biblical principals brings good results and is a wonderful witness.  Our lives and the lives of our families will speak loud and clear as being for the Lord when we raise our families in the fear of the Lord.

A Small Change

Our church has been blessed with many babies!  They are all so precious!

In an effort to balance out class size on Sunday mornings, we’ve made a change: Our Infants class will be for babies, ages 6 weeks to 18 months in age (Room 136).  Our Babies class will now be for those that are 19 to 30 months in age (Room 135).

Thanks for your understanding and patience and we make this transition!
